Hi, I'm Annika Risch,
I have been working with children for more than 10 years in educational settings, private homes, and as part of the disability team for Achieving for Children, before completing my Master’s in Play Therapy.
In my work with children, I see myself as a companion on their journey of exploring their inner world. Rather than focusing on "problematic" behaviour, I approach each child with deep compassion and curiosity, recognizing their creativity, strength, and resilience in the face of big emotions and life’s messy moments. My aim is to nurture their sense of aliveness and wonder, helping them discover what makes them uniquely themselves.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with many children who are neurodivergent, disabled, non-speaking, or have limited verbal communication. I approach this work with deep respect, flexibility, and curiosity — honouring each child’s unique rhythm, interests, and ways of connecting. This experience has taught me that every child communicates in their own way — and deserves to be heard, understood, and supported with creativity and care.
Alongside this, I also work with a wide range of children navigating emotional and behavioural challenges.
Whatever your child is facing, I offer a safe, playful space where they can grow at their own pace. I believe in meeting each child exactly where they are, whether they like playing by themselves in silence, or crawling around roaring like a lion.
Whether you’re seeking support for a specific challenge or simply want a nurturing space for your child to process their world, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you.
